drugs are efficient to only up to 80%. So you should relax. Don’t eat heavy
foods and only drink light liquids.
Post-op care
1. You may suffer from dizziness that may diminish in the evening or night. The day after surgery you may feel tired, but you may resume your normal activities.
2. You may feel tenderness the morning after, but you may resume your normal activities while you recover.
3. It is expected that you will feel nausea, especially if you start to move quickly, but the feeling will disappear 6 to 8 hours after surgery. Although I administer anti-nausea drugs before and after surgery, you may still feel nausea, since the drugs are 80% effective. Take it easy. Don’t eat heavy foods, and only drink light liquids.
4. If pain relief medications are prescribed, take one tablet before bed and one on the morning after surgery. In most cases you will not need pain relief more than two days post-op.
5. Call your doctor if you suffer from noticeable redness, painful swelling, or a fever more than 39˚C.
6. It is expected that swelling will develop the day after surgery. To reduce swelling, stay in bed with your head elevated on two pillows if possible.
7. Keep your nose tape dry. It will be removed after 7-8 days.
8. You may see a post-op bloody discharge for 48-72 hours. This is normal and will diminish after the first 24-36 hours. Remember, your nose might feel stuffy for 1-2 weeks. Some may experience a bad smell as tissues heal .
9. Clean your nose with ear swabs, only the cotton part, and make sure you wipe your nose completely dry.
10. Don’t blow your nose for one month, as it may cause heavy bleeding, and also avoid heavy lifting for ten days.
11. If you wear glasses, don’t rest them on your nose bridge for up to 1 month.
12. Your face will be extremely bruised for up to three days after surgery. The bruising will lessen along with the swelling.
13. The amount of swelling on both sides of the nose will be asymmetrical, even though both sides were treated identically. The swelling and the bruising will diminish after three weeks.
14. The region around your nose will feel numb for some weeks and will recover progressively. It takes several months to completely return to normal.
15. Avoid strenuous exercise and other sport activities for the first four to eight weeks after surgery.
